Date Selection No Go's

5 Common Mistakes in Date Selection – And How to Avoid Them

Date selection is like surfing.

You wait for the perfect wave, hop on the board – and let it carry you. If there’s no wind, it gets exhausting. If there’s a storm, it can get dangerous.
Timing energy works similarly. When we choose the right time, things flow with less effort. If not, we waste energy or even go in the wrong direction.

If you’ve never done date selection before – don’t worry. Vera and Steffi are here to share their insights. Here are five common mistakes from real life – and how to avoid them.

Mistake 1: No date selection – leaving it all to chance

Sounds basic, but it’s one of the most common mistakes. We rush through decisions without checking the timing. The result: delays, obstacles, stress.

A real-life example:
When we (Vera & Steffi) were reorganizing the team and working on the 2026 calendar, we also had to set up a new PayPal account. Ironically, we didn’t select a good day for it.
The result? A day with weak money energy and no personal support. Despite multiple emails and contacting support – the account was permanently blocked.

What could we have done differently?
A quick look at the calendar would’ve helped. For financial actions like opening a bank or payment account, choose days like Success, Grasp/Initiate, or Open/Begin.
Avoid No Wealth Days.

Mistake 2: Water activities on the wrong day

Fountains, aquariums, and plumbing work have strong meaning in Feng Shui – but certain days are energetically unsuitable: the Water Sat Days.

These are days when you should avoid installing or cleaning water-related elements, including aquariums, pipes, or washing machines.

Steffi: “One time I introduced new fish into my aquarium on a Water Sat Day – and they brought in a disease that killed all the fish. Another time, my landlady had a water sample taken on such a day. Result? A minor issue led to a Legionella detection and the entire water system had to be replaced.”

The calendar clearly marks Water Sat Days – easy to avoid with a quick check.

Mistake 3: Starting projects on seasonal transition days

Solstices and equinoxes divide the year into Yin and Yang phases. On these days (and the days right before), Qi becomes still. These are moments of pause and reflection, not of forward motion.

Starting something new on these days? You don’t know in which direction the energy will tip.
Instead, use them for visioning, rest, or reflection. Also avoid launching projects during the final days of a season – the energy is shifting and unstable.

Mistake 4: Trying to resolve conflicts on Breaker Days

Year Breaker and Month Breaker days bring direct conflict between the energy of the day and that of the month or year. Fire clashes with Water, Metal with Wood – and people tend to clash too.

These are not good days for serious talks, negotiations, or legal matters.

Better idea? Step back. Let things cool off.
Try again tomorrow with better support from the Qi.

Mistake 5: Working against the seasons

Winter is the time of deep Yin – we humans need more sleep, quiet, and restoration. If we fill this season with loud events, parties, and major launches, we burn ourselves out – and then we lack energy when it’s time to really move in spring and summer.

Flip side: In the Yang months (spring/summer), you can challenge yourself more, stay up late, work out harder. Use the seasonal energy wisely – and let nature do some of the work for you.

Final thoughts: Start small – act intentionally

You don’t need to apply all the methods at once. Even one step – like checking the Day Officer (Tung Kung Days) or avoiding Water Sat Days – can make a big difference.

Our calendar makes it easy to work with the energy of time – even for beginners.
