A

Annual Sat / Sha Day

One of the three Killings. Year Sat. A direction or day better to avoid in a year. Can cause general setbacks or obstacles.

B

C

28 Constellations

A system dividing the sky into 28 sectors along the Moon’s monthly path, each representing a specific constellation, with the cycle always beginning with the Moon mansion Horn, guiding timing, astrology, and auspicious activities. Also known as Lunar Mansions.

Compass Sat Day

Specific days in the Chinese lunar calendar considered inauspicious for Feng Shui work, when the Lopan compass and related measurements may be unreliable due to the active Luohou star, and performing Feng Shui activities is traditionally avoided. In Chinese astrology and Feng Shui, Luohou is considered a malevolent star, associated with the ascending lunar node and linked to eclipses and cosmic disturbances. Traditionally, it is seen as a demon-like figure that can bring chaos or misfortune, particularly influencing the so-called Master Killing  or Compass Sat Days.

Also known as Gods Blessing (Fu Duk).

H

Heavenly Pardon Day

One of the San Sat/Sha used in Date Selection. Besonders kraftvoller Tag für spirituelle Rituale im Einklang mit himmlischen Gnaden, karmische Erleichterung

K

3 Killings

A concept in Chinese astrology and Feng Shui representing negative energy that occupies a specific sector of the compass each year. It is associated with three types of misfortune:

  • Robbery Sat – financial loss or theft
  • Calamity Sat – health problems or accidents
  • Annual or Year Sat – general setbacks or obstacles

The location of the Three Killings is determined by the year’s Earthly Branch, and certain earthly branches may be particularly affected. Activities like renovations, loud work, or digging in this sector are traditionally avoided, and Feng Shui cures may be used to mitigate negative effects.

L

LoShu Number

A numerical representation of energy in the 8 directions of the Bagua, including Tai Qi (the center), arranged according to the Later Heaven sequence. The Lo Shu number can also be calculated for days or persons (based on the year of birth) and is used in date selection to determine auspicious timing and energetic alignment.

Lunar Mansions

See 28 constellations.

M

Master Killing Day

See Compass Sat Day.

N

No Wealth Day

One of the San Sat/Sha used in Date Selection. In many years, there are usually 6–13 such days, not always exactly ten – the number “10” is more of a figurative reference to emphasize their significance. Also known as 10 Ferocious Big Desaster Days. In a 60-year cycle of the Chinese calendar, the Prosperity Qi (Lù, Stem Ranking) of certain heavenly stem–earthly branch combinations falls into the empty branches, and these days are therefore considered “No Wealth” days.

S

San Sat/Sha

Heavenly Forces & Shadow Energies (traditionally: “Lucky Gods and Demons”)

In Chinese astrology, these terms refer to subtle spiritual influences that complement the core structure of a BaZi chart.

Heavenly Forces are beneficial energies representing protection, wisdom, intuition, or fortunate opportunities (e.g. Moon Blessing, Academic Star, Prosperity Star).

Shadow Energies signify challenging aspects such as inner tension, karmic lessons, or emotional entanglements (e.g. Robbery Sha).

Both are value-neutral influences that highlight areas of growth. Depending on one’s awareness and life path, they can serve as either obstacles or sources of personal empowerment.

T

Tung Kung Days

A system in Chinese astrology, developed by Master Dong, based on the relationship between the day’s Earthly Branch and the month’s Earthly Branch, assigning each day a specific “officer” that influences its energy, auspiciousness, and suitable activities.

Also known as Dong Gong Days or Day Officer.
