If you’ve ever flipped through the Feng Shui Calendar and wondered how to actually read all those symbols and layers, this post is for you. Let’s take one example – August 26, 2025 – and walk through how to read and use the calendar, even if you’re still new to date selection.
We’ve chosen this date because it’s an interesting mix: not the most obvious choice, but a good example of how to combine the quality of the day with personal resonance. It also shows that a day that seems “risky” on the surface may still be highly usable.
What the calendar tells us at a glance
August 26, 2025 is a Yin Fire Rabbit day in a Yang Wood Monkey month.
At the top of the entry, you’ll see three red stars – this rating tells you that the overall Qi of the day is strong. On other days, you might find one or two stars, or black crosses indicating weaker energy.
The Day Officer is Danger. That doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bad day, but it suggests that outcomes may be uncertain or situations may carry risk. It’s not the ideal day to launch something big or to push forward with high expectations. However, paired with strong Qi, the energy can still support a wide range of activities – especially if you’re grounded and realistic.
How deeper layers refine the picture
Beyond the initial reading, you’ll find several other systems layered into the calendar. Here’s what else shows up on August 26:
- Hexagram of the day: No. 41 – Decrease
A hexagram about reducing excess, simplifying, and returning to what really matters. It supports letting go of distractions and focusing energy intentionally. - Kua of the day: 9/6
This can help you check if the day aligns with your personal Kua or someone else’s – especially useful for consultants or those with Bazi experience. - LoShu number of the day: 9
Useful for determining whether a day resonates with your home (if you know the LoShu of your property), or for Feng Shui methods like the Flying Stars. - NaYin (Lap Yam) element of the day: Fire
This adds another layer, for example when choosing days for transactions or agreements that should support the elemental structure of a property. - Missing number family: 1–2–3
This is more advanced, but can be used to check how closely the day “belongs” to your home’s energy. - 28 Constellations: Horn
Horn is a positive constellation, associated with beginnings, movement, and growth. It suggests the day is well-suited for things like moving house, launching a project, or opening doors – just not for burials.
All of this together means: While “Danger” days can be tricky, this one is backed by strong energy and supportive structures, and may be a very usable day – with care.
One warning: Calamity Sat Day
August 26 is also a Calamity Sat Day – one of the so-called “Three Killings” in the year. These days are known for triggering impulsive behaviour, especially in relationships. You might say something you don’t mean, or act in ways you later regret. That doesn’t mean you need to tiptoe through the day – but it’s worth being a little more aware of what you say and how you respond.
How this helps you use the calendar
This kind of breakdown shows how Date Selection is more than just picking a lucky day. You’re layering different levels of information: general Qi quality, Day Officer, personal resonance (through Kua or Bazi), lunar constellation, and more.
Even if you’re not yet confident in reading Bazi charts or matching your Kua, there’s still a lot you can work with. And if you are already deeper into the subject, the calendar gives you the detail you need.
