Month of the Yin Fire Rooster
7 September – 7 October 2026
Rooster element: Metal
The Rooster takes us into the heart of autumn and into one of the strongest Metal periods of the year.
After months dominated by Fire, this shift may feel surprisingly welcome. Metal brings more structure, precision and discernment. It helps us sort, refine and decide what is worth carrying forward.
Four ways to use the Rooster Month
- Simplify before you add. Finish, edit and refine rather than starting too many new projects.
- Review what represents you. Your wardrobe, branding, website or business presentation may all benefit from a critical look.
- Use 21 September for clearing and decluttering.
- Keep 28 September in mind for important projects and success-oriented activities.
For more detailed daily energy information, you can follow the dates in the Feng Shui Calendar.
A strategic month
The Rooster has a reputation for knowing how to move within its environment. It is observant, strategic and aware of presentation. In business, this is useful energy for negotiations, positioning, pricing, communication and refinement. This is not necessarily a month for doing more. It may be a better month for asking:
What needs to become clearer, sharper or more professional?
Metal is associated with structure, boundaries and reduction. One very practical way to work with this energy is to clear out what no longer serves you. That can be your wardrobe, but it can just as easily be an outdated offer, an unfinished project or a process that has become unnecessarily complicated.
Fire meets Metal
Just as in the previous month, Fire and Metal meet again. In the Five Element cycle, Fire controls Metal. Yet this is not automatically negative.
Raw Metal often needs Fire in order to be shaped. Think of gold before it becomes jewellery: valuable, certainly, but still unformed. The combination of Yin Fire and Rooster Metal can therefore be productive when it is used for refinement.
It can help turn something rough into something precise. The risk is overdoing it. Too much Fire exhausts energy. Too much Metal can become rigid. The useful middle ground is controlled improvement.
White Dew and the Autumn Equinox
The Rooster Month begins with White Dew, one of the 24 seasonal Qi phases. Even when the afternoons remain warm, mornings start to feel different. Dew appears, nights become cooler and Yang continues to retreat.
On 23 September, we reach the Autumn Equinox. Day and night are approximately equal in length, symbolising a brief balance between Yin and Yang. For this reason, we would not choose the Equinox itself as our favourite day for launching something that needs strong forward momentum. It is, however, an excellent moment for review.
What has developed since spring?
What should continue into autumn?
And what has completed its purpose?
Opportunities in the Rooster Month
The Rooster carries several supportive qualities this month. One of them is traditionally described as the Eastern Guardian Angel. Classical Chinese metaphysics often uses very poetic names for energetic influences. In practical terms, this points to protection and support: challenges may still occur, but their consequences can be softened.
Support may also come through people of the opposite gender, making collaboration and asking for help especially worthwhile.
There can also be useful financial opportunities this month. As always in BaZi, however, no element is universally favourable. If Metal supports your personal chart, the month may feel particularly productive. If Metal is already excessive for you, the same energy may feel more like pressure, restrictions, rules or delays. In that case, do not respond with more force. Use the Metal quality itself: simplify, prioritise and make clearer decisions.
Useful dates in September
A few dates worth noting:
13 and 25 September – Initiative Days
Good for taking the first step, making contact or actively moving something forward.
15 September – a strong Danger Day
This day carries unusually supportive energy, although Danger Days always deserve some caution. We would avoid unnecessary physical or financial risk.
21 September – Clearing and Decluttering
A particularly useful Remove Day for letting go, clearing storage or switching your wardrobe from summer to autumn.
28 September – Success Day
One of the strongest dates this month for moving important projects forward.
The Feng Shui Calendar gives you the full daily picture rather than relying on one single indicator.
Monthly Flying Stars
The monthly Flying Stars add another layer to the annual Feng Shui pattern. This month, the combinations are mixed, so small adjustments are more useful than dramatic changes.
Centre: financial potential
The Centre carries supportive money energy this month. Metal can help nourish it, while fresh flowers introduce Wood energy and can help retain the potential. It is an interesting reminder that attracting resources is only one part of the equation. Keeping and managing them matters just as much.
Northeast and Southwest
A little Water energy can be useful in both the Northeast and Southwest. Blue accents can support the career and development potential found here.
East and West
The East and West benefit from some Fire energy. Seasonal red flowers are an easy way to introduce it without turning your home into a Feng Shui showroom.
Southeast and Northwest
The Southeast and Northwest are the more sensitive directions this month. In the Southeast, a small amount of Metal can help keep the energy moving. In both areas, we would avoid adding more red, yellow or black during the Rooster Month. There is no need to redecorate the room. Monthly Feng Shui often works best through small adjustments and by simply avoiding unnecessary activation.
Rooster Month in brief
Use September to:
- simplify rather than expand;
- refine projects that are already underway;
- review how you present yourself or your business;
- clear what you no longer use;
- pause and reflect around the Autumn Equinox;
- take initiative on 13 or 25 September;
- use 28 September for important success-oriented activities;
- pay particular attention to the Centre, Southeast and Northwest of your home.
The Rooster Month is less about rushing forward and more about precision. Sometimes progress does not come from adding another task, another idea or another project. Sometimes it comes from deciding what deserves your attention — and removing what does not.
